Paul has just gotten finished telling Timothy that despite the fact that he was abandoned in Rome – that there were a few – like Onesiphorus, who were a great comfort during hard times. Now he takes it one step further – be strong yourself, and look for people you can trust – Now is the time to pass on the good Word and encouragement to others and show Discipleship.

This week’s chapter contains some of the richest verses about the truth of the Word of God, and the reality of persecution in the New Testament. It also contains some of the strongest language in the Bible against those who pose as teachers of the Scriptures, but are actually false teachers and what our world will be like as it approaches the end. And it contrasts for us the difference between those who accept the Bible as God’s Word, and those who don’t. It is both an encouragement and a warning to us.

There is always a bigger picture to your life when you belong to Jesus. No matter how many times people attack you or put you down, no matter what you go through in this life – remember that you are in God’s presence – the God who will judge with His ultimate truth. That He is coming back and is setting up His kingdom. You are not alone and you have a purpose.
